My track record of smart spending speaks for itself.

I helped balance the Leon County budget every year I served as commissioner 1998-2010. Our county’s strong fiscal management preserved essential services and even improved them – with no net increase of county taxes.

Our streamlined operations produced such advances as four new branch libraries, expanded public health care, veterans housing benefits, and major road and infrastructure improvements that created hundreds of construction jobs in the depths of the Great Recession.

When I left office in 2010, Leon County had the fourth lowest per capita operating budget among Florida’s 67 counties. My personal county taxes then added up to less than half of my annual cell phone bill.

Compare that record to the budget-busting Speaker Paul Ryan, and now Congressman Neal Dunn whose about-face on federal budget deficits is slated to explode our national debt to unprecedented levels in future years.
